Cross-Border Climate Solutions: Lessons from the Malaysia-Netherlands Sustainability Dialogue

How can the private sector advance sustainability through practical approaches, cross-border knowledge sharing and collaboration?
The Malaysia-Netherlands Dialogue: Private Sector Approaches to Sustainability brought together speakers, moderators and participants for six webinar sessions exploring critical sustainability challenges and approaches across different sectors. Running from March through September 2026, the series covered a range of topics — from freshwater resource protection and climate litigation to sustainable agriculture, carbon markets and the circular bioeconomy.
The webinar series brought together 26 expert speakers and moderators and drew a total cumulative attendance of 513 participants across its six-part series, alongside 478 total registrants from 17 countries.
To document the outcomes and reach of this initiative, Climate Governance Malaysia has released the Malaysia-Netherlands Dialogue Impact Report, capturing key statistics, participant engagement and insights from across the six sessions.
The report provides an overview of the programme, featuring series-wide statistics, attendee demographics, session-level participation data, and valuable feedback from speakers and participants. Its Summary of Proceedings brings together the core takeaways from every session, serving as an actionable resource for readers looking to revisit the topics explored and reflect on their implications for private-sector sustainability strategies.

The six sessions explored the following themes:
Session 1: Protecting Critical Freshwater Resources
Session 2: Strategies Behind Climate Lawsuits
Session 3: Palm Waste As Valuable Biomass
Session 4: Sustainable Dairy Farming
Session 5: Building Reliable Carbon Markets
Session 6: Waste-to-Energy: Scaling Biogas & Circular Bioeconomy
