The Climate Governance Malaysia (CGM) Global Summit 2025 Impact Report has been officially released today. This Impact Report captures key outcomes and insights from the Summit at a critical moment for climate leadership, governance, and decision-making.

Climate Leadership at a Critical Juncture

The Summit took place against a challenging climate backdrop. In 2024, global energy-related CO₂ emissions reached a record 37.8 gigatonnes, while Malaysia continues to experience rising mean temperatures of up to 0.25°C per decade. These trends reinforce an urgent reality: climate action must be embedded within boardrooms, executive leadership, investment decisions, and policy frameworks.

A Strategic Convergence of Leaders

More than a convening, the CGM Global Summit 2025 served as a strategic convergence of science, governance, and leadership. The full-day programme brought together 11 global thought leaders and 402 participants for curated discussions spanning climate science, policy, sustainable finance, corporate governance, and regional perspectives.

The Summit was designed to support leaders in moving beyond reactive risk management towards strategic climate stewardship, where climate considerations are integrated into long-term resilience and value creation.

Key Themes and Takeaways

Discussions throughout the Summit highlighted the need to:

  • Strengthen board and senior management accountability for climate issues

  • Integrate climate considerations into corporate strategy and capital allocation

  • Improve transparency, disclosure, and decision-useful reporting

  • Align governance structures with long-term climate and sustainability goals

These insights are consolidated in the Impact Report, providing practical reflections for organisations navigating climate-related risks and opportunities.
