The CGM Hornbill Awards 2026 concluded with five outstanding finalists showcasing innovative, community-driven initiatives that demonstrate the power of nature-based solutions in addressing biodiversity loss, supporting local communities and strengthening climate resilience.
Celebrating the Winner

Congratulations to Langur Project Penang Hub, led by Dr. Jo Leen Yap, for being named the CGM Hornbill Awards 2026 winner.
The initiative was recognised for its science-based conservation approach and its efforts to protect the dusky langur through wildlife canopy bridges, community engagement, environmental education and collaborative conservation efforts.
Five Initiatives, One Shared Commitment
Beyond the winning initiative, the Hornbill Awards provided a platform for all five finalists to present their projects and connect with leaders from the corporate, finance and policy sectors.
The finalists included:
Langur Project Penang Hub
SEARRP Rainforest Research
Persatuan Pelindung Harimau Malaysia (RIMAU)
Wetlands International Malaysia
Free Tree Society
Their work highlighted the diversity of grassroots solutions, ranging from rainforest conservation and tiger protection to peatland restoration and urban biodiversity.
Together, these projects demonstrated that meaningful climate action begins at the community level, where innovation, collaboration and responsible stewardship are creating lasting impact for people and nature.
