About the event
The Climate Governance Initiative (CGI) is hosting the Global Summit 2022: Ambition to Action, a 24-hour virtual conference spanning the globe and bringing together highly motivated board members and other eminent speakers who champion effective climate governance. The event programme features region-specific keynotes and panels, as well as interactive sessions developed and delivered by CGI’s network of non-executive directors (NEDs), targeted at board members and directors from the business world who are ready to take effective climate governance to the next level.
CGM is the Secretariat of the ASEAN Climate Governance Network, a network of all institutes of directors in ASEAN, which is hosting 4 sessions, described below.

Session 1: Zero ambitions: what is the role of boards on climate?
9.00 am - 10.30 am (MYT) / 2.00 am - 3.30 am (BST) / 9.00 pm - 10.30 pm (NYT)
Investors and regulators see climate goals as essential to risk management and growth – and expect boards to drive to change. What action should a successful board in ASEAN be taking from the perspective of a global or regional investor? How is regulation changing the responsibilities of directors? How will investors balance the benefits of engagement with pressure they face to divest?
Session 2: What gets measured: how investors approach climate disclosure and metrics
10.30 am - 11.30 am (MYT) / 3.30 am - 4.30 am (BST) / 10.30 pm - 11.30 pm (NYT)
Climate standards for listed companies are beginning to converge. Most investors see the recommendations of the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and the guidelines of International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) as the gold standard for disclosure and accounting. What other metrics are investors using to understand companies' alignment with climate goals? How quickly do capital providers expect to see ASEAN firms adopt these standards? What are likely implications for companies that move fast - and those that don't?
Session 3: Sustainable financing, sustainable future?
11.30 am - 12.30 pm (MYT) / 4.30 am - 5.30 am (BST) / 11.30 pm - 12.30 pm (NYT)
What should be the role of sustainable financing in a company's transition strategy? How should listed companies and lenders be working together on decarbonisation? And what is the outlook for this fast-growing area of capital markets?
Session 4: Voices of youth for a cleaner, greener future
12.30 pm - 2.00 pm (MYT) / 5.30 am - 7.00 am (BST) / 12.30 pm - 2.00 pm (NYT)
How can the average person, who may feel powerless, contribute to change? Where do financial leaders see the most opportunity for youth to contribute? How can business leaders better accommodate youth to contribute? How can business leaders better accommodate youth perspectives and needs? How can youth help amplify efforts already underway?
