About the event
Our homes are one of the easiest places to replace fossil fuels with cleaner electricity, and gas stoves are as bad for children's health as someone smoking cigarettes at home. Electric vehicles cut transportation costs by 3/4ths, and rooftop solar panels can nearly eliminate bills. With bidirectional electric vehicle chargers, cars can provide back-up electricity to a house during power outages, or even contribute electricity to the grid to help during heat waves. Come learn about how to electrify houses, apartments or condominiums, including electric vehicle chargers and rooftop solar.
Sean Armstrong is the Managing Principal of Redwood Energy and starting in college he has worked for 28 years in renewable energy and building electrification, designed the retrofit and new construction of more than 25,000 all-electric residences for disadvantaged populations, co-authored 7 "pocket guides" to building electrification, provided legal and technical support to municipal building code-based bans on gas use in buildings throughout in the U.S., and has received Grand Prize awards from the United Nations and the California Building Industry Association. Sean was inducted into California's "Clean Energy Hall of Fame" in 2022, and in 2023-2024 is working with other nations on their Net Zero goals on behalf of the U.S. State Department.
