Rizal Ishak

Rizal Ishak is currently a Director at private equity firm RRJ Capital, managing assets under management (AUM) of USD 13 billion, and Hopu Capital, with an AUM of USD 2.4 billion, a role he has held since 2008. A dedicated private equity practitioner, he is a steadfast advocate for sustainable and impact investing. He has served on the boards of Berger International, a Singapore-listed company operating across ten countries, and chaired the audit committees of two Malaysian-listed companies.

Rizal has also been a Senior Advisor to Malaysia’s government ICT agency, MIMOS, and contributed to panels and roundtables hosted by ISIS and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).

A Boston University graduate with a B.Sc. in Computer Science, Rizal began his career in strategy and change management consulting at Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting). He later transitioned to equities research and investment banking at CLSA, specializing in the energy/power, TMT, and banking/resources sectors across Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.
