G. Shanmugam

G Shanmugam is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), appointed on 1 September 2025 after serving as Acting CEO since March 2025.

A Chartered Accountant of MIA, Fellow of CIMA (FCMA), Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) and ASEAN CPA, he has been with MIA since 2007, bringing expertise in finance, strategy, consulting, and training to drive innovation and sustainable value. Previously, he was Executive Director of Strategy and Development, leading strategy, systems, communications, branding, and professional development. Under his leadership, MIA has won multiple national awards for CPD and human capital development.

G Shan aspires to further strengthen collaborative leadership across MIA’s diverse stakeholders, with the aim of advancing ethics, governance, sustainability, and digital transformation as key pillars in futureproofing the profession and contributing to sustainable nation-building.
